Clergy and Staff

Fr Richard (Rick) Durrett, CD, MDiv

Fr Rick graduated from the Vancouver School of Theology in 1988 with a Master of Divinity and was ordained to the Priesthood that spring. He began his ministry with COR in February 2012 after a 22 year career as a Canadian Forces Chaplain. The unique Ecumenical and Interfaith nature of the CF Chaplain Branch prepared him well for life in a Parish that shares it’s facilities and ministry with another Christian denomination.

Fr. Rick spent his teen years growing up in this area and is a graduate of Brookfield High School. Known for his friendly smile and caring nature he quickly found his place among us. Examples of his sermons can be found elsewhere on this site.

The Rev. Canon Lisa Pacarynuk was born and raised in Calgary, Alberta. She obtained her Master of Divinity from the Toronto School of Theology, and served the Canadian Forces as a Roman Catholic lay chaplain before discerning a call to ordained ministry in the Anglican Church of Canada. In 2008, she studied at St. John’s College in Winnipeg, MB to complete a certificate of Anglican studies and was subsequently ordained to the priesthood in March 2011. She served two years as the priest-in-charge at 2 parishes in the Diocese of Fredericton before returning to the military chaplaincy as an Anglican chaplain in 2012. She currently works in the office of the Chaplain General of the Canadian Armed Forces.

Director of Music

Fred Meredith, BA, MEd

Fred began his musical ministry with us in January 1980. His responsibilities include directing and accompanying the choir, playing organ and piano in our worship services, and liaising with other musicians within and beyond the parish. A native of Ottawa, Fred studied at Carleton University, St. Paul University, and the University of Ottawa. A retired Ottawa-Carleton elementary music teacher Fred has over 30 years of experience leading our music program.  He has composed some of the service music used regularly in our Eucharistic celebrations, and arranged hymn tunes for organ, woodwinds and brass. Each week during the program year (Sept-June) Fred leads Choir practice on Thursdays at 8pm and our Choral Eucharist at 915am each Sunday. At special times of the year such as Christmas, Holy Week and Easter there are special services and music to enjoy. He is ably supported by his wife Lynn (an accomplished musician and composer in her own right), who sings in our choir and wrote several of the anthems in the choir’s repertoire.

Fred always welcomes those interested in learning more about our music program or who wish to join the choir.

Children and Youth Minister

Cat La Force

I’m excited to be the Riverside Churches’ Children and Youth Ministry Coordinator. I’m Dalphina and Leo’s mom, a wife, an active member of our congregation as well as a Girl Guides of Canada Sparks leader, TOPS member and I’m on Riverside United’s Christian Development Committee – All at our church!

I enjoy an active family life, volunteering, being outdoors, creative expression, dancing, upcycling, learning new things and coffee time with friends to name a few.

I hope to share with the children and youth an active love of community, knowledge of God’s unconditional love for us, a positive outlook, conversations about bible stories and how they apply to our lives. Join us on Sundays for songs in the Sanctuary, stories and an activity! All are welcome in this place
