Clergy and Staff

Fr Richard (Rick) Durrett, CD, MDiv

Fr Rick graduated from the Vancouver School of Theology in 1988 with a Master of Divinity degree and was ordained to the Priesthood on March 27th of that year. In 2018 he marks not only 6 years of ministry at COR but 30 years of Priesthood.

He began his ministry at COR after a 22 year career as a Canadian Forces Chaplain. The unique Ecumenical and Interfaith nature of the CF Chaplain Branch prepared him well for life in a Parish that shares it’s facilities and ministry with another Christian denomination.

In addition Fr. Rick is a “local-boy-made-good” who spent his teen years growing up in this area and is a graduate of Brookfield High School. Known for his friendly smile and caring nature he quickly found his place among us. Fr Rick is also widely respected for preaching and thoughtful reflections on daily life in Christ.  His sermons can be found here on this site.

Director of Music

Fred Meredith, BA, MEd  (Retiring August 2018)

Fred began his musical ministry with us in January 1980. His responsibilities include directing and accompanying the choir, playing organ and piano in our worship services, and liaising with other musicians within and beyond the parish. A native of Ottawa, Fred studied at Carleton University, St. Paul University, and the University of Ottawa. A retired Ottawa-Carleton elementary music teacher Fred has over 30 years of experience leading our music program.  He has composed some of the service music used regularly in our Eucharistic celebrations, and arranged hymn tunes for organ, woodwinds and brass. Each week during the program year (Sept-June) Fred leads Choir practice on Thursdays at 8pm and our Choral Eucharist at 915am each Sunday. At special times of the year such as Christmas, Holy Week and Easter there are special services and music to enjoy. He is ably supported by his wife Lynn (an accomplished musician and composer in her own right), who sings in our choir and wrote several of the anthems in the choir’s repertoire.

Fred always welcomes those interested in learning more about our music program or who wish to join the choir.
