Leora Nauta is known as “an exceptional musician… warm, open, and absolutely impassioned in her craft” (Radio Europa), Leora has devoted her entire life to the performance and proliferation of classical music worldwide. After a very long journey, she is delighted to call Ottawa her new home.
She has held Director, Organist, and Conductor positions across North America and Europe, and has worked at distinguished institutions such as The Church of St. Andrew and St. Paul (Montréal), New England Conservatory (Boston), The Basilica of the Sacred Heart (Notre Dame), and Christ Church Cathedral (Ottawa). She believes that she is called to be a church musicianand that music is a profound spiritual endeavor used to enhance and beautify our worship of God.
In addition to her work as conductor and performer, Leora serves as Director of Music at St. Timothy’s Classical Academy, and directs several chamber choruses throughout the Ottawa area.
She holds a Master of Music from McGill University, a Master of Sacred Music from The University of Notre Dame, and studied historical performance at Amsterdam Conservatory. Throughout her studies she received numerous academic distinctions.
Leora is eager to meet members of the congregation and especially our choir members and will attend our parish worship and picnic on the 17th of June @930am. She will commence her work as Music Director on the 1st of Sept 2018. First choir practice is scheduled for Thursday the 7th of Sept with her first Sunday being Sunday the 10th of September.
