Palm Sunday is a Christian moveable feast that falls on the Sunday before Easter . Palm Sunday commemorates the entrance of Jesus into Jerusalem (Matthew 21:1–9), when palm branches were placed in his path, before his arrest on Holy Thursday and his crucifixion on Good Friday. We bless palm crosses to be taken home by members of the congregation to remind them of Jesus path of suffering and triumph.
Our 9:15am worship service on Palm Sunday will include a procession of the faithful carrying palms, representing the palm branches the crowd scattered in front of Jesus as he rode into Jerusalem. Some of the best hymnody in our tradition is used on Palm Sunday; “Ride On Ride on in Majesty,” “All Glory Laud and Honour” “Into Jerusalem Jesus Rode” and many more.
